Bangladesh is a disaster prone country. Thunderstorms are responsible for the development and formation of many severe weather phenomena. Thunderstorms, and the phenomena that occur along with them, pose great hazards to populations and landscapes. All thunderstorms produce lightning and are very dangerous. In the world, every year, over 20,000 people are affected by lightning and several thousand succumb to their injuries. [6] Only a few studies have been done on lightning in Bangladesh (6. Karim, 1995, Gomes et al., 2006) and those few reveal that the number of lightning incidents in the country is quite high [6. Karim, 1995, Gomes et al., 2006]
