Protective effects of the dietary supplementation of turmeric (Curcuma IOllgaL.) on sodium arsenite-induced biochemical perturbation in mice

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the protective effect of turmeric powder on arsenic toxicity through mice model. Swiss albino male mice were divided into four groups. The first group was used as control, while groups 2, 3, and 4 were treated with turmeric powder (T, 50mg/kg body weight/day), sodium arsenite (Sa, 10mg/kg body weight/day) and turmeric plus Sa (T+Sa), respectively. Results showed that oral administration of Sa reduced the weight gain of the mice compared to the control group and food supplementation of turmeric prevented the reduction of weight gain.
